Maggie Reed

Maggie Reed was born in Needham, Mass., and raised in Fayetteville, N.Y.

She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1981 with a bachelor's degree in journalism. There she worked for the student newspaper, The Badger Herald, starting as assistant sports editor and finishing as editor-in-chief.

The majority of her years in journalism have been in sports, covering everything from pickleball to auto racing.

Reed has slowly made her way west and now resides in El Cajon, Calif. Her ties to California began when she was an AFS domestic exchange student, spending a semester attending El Capitan her senior year in high school and living in Lakeside.

She has worked as sports editor at The Palladium-Times in Oswego, N.Y., The Daily Press in Ashland, Wis., and Checkered Flag Racing News in Watertown, Wis.; editor and photographer of The York Weekly in York, Maine; Exeter and York bureau chief for the Portsmouth Herald in Portsmouth, N.H.; and writer for The Wickenburg Sun in Wickenburg, Ariz. She also worked in the funeral profession for 10 years while in Arizona.

She was a copy editor with Copley News Service and writes the Bulletin Board column.
